Cool Garden Photo's that have made me think

Have you ever typed in Pallet planter in google image search.
OMG!! So much cool shit, wow just wow. Now here
is the Question , are they real and are they practical.
I like most of you if you are really reading this, have seen
cool diy gardening with pallets videos or other how to platforms.
I will also cover other garden pix I have found that , i like or
have made me think.

I have never tried a plastic box for a sip,
But this looks sound. That is , if the plastic
checks out. I used hdpe of PP every time in
my planters. ( i know i did early seeds in PS )

I do really like 5 Gal Sip buckets.
If you have looked at the way my garden
has moved. 5 Gal. sip is the way.
My pepper plants are good all day ,
even moisture all the time. (even !00+ Heat)
My tomato plants are off the charts,
I can't give them enough water.
I am going to look in to a lid or mulch.
Maybe a timer for watering

 I really like this idea

It looks really good , and
It is %100 possible with only
pallet wood. Just remember most
pallets do not have this level
of quality wood

This picture is great , I see this being a amazing
start to a support post. Imagine a out door structure
with version of this as its support posts.
EPIC!!!

A small Shelf to support your lights for seeds / starts
Confirmed. Works great.

Mid July garden update - Photo edition

This fence line gets the best sun
if you can't tell.
Starting one the left (orange)
Gypsy pepper is started from saved
seeds from last year.
The little one you can't see yet is
a habanero i started from some
dollar store seeds.
The next three i bought, there
 Bonnie plants from Walmart
First a "Bonnie green" bell pepper
Then a sweet banana pepper , this is
the better of the 2 banana i bought
Last is a Yellow Bell , I has been a little later
 to flower then the others
Every plant in this picture is from seeds
i personally harvested then started.
In the mini-sips (top row)
It is a mix of Super Khi , Thi-anne , and cayenne
The yellow sips are , a mix of Sugar rush peach,
and misc. bell peppers
Black mini-sips (top row)
More Super Khi, thi-anne,
a Sweet pepper ( i think gypsy )
And one unknown. (lost the tag)
Yellow buckets:
I have a havasu , a flamin ember , a fresno
And the rest are misc. cayenne and bells
in this row , there are randoms
and a few i bought.
Elephant ear sweet pepper
Italian sweet pepper
A Jalapino
These two plants are drinking there
entire reservoirs every 2 days.
Its not even that hot yet.

Early june photes, Garden upgrade edition

 Photos taken June 8th 2020
Major upgrades
mini sips and suport
for most plants

This season we are resetting the back garden.
More grow sites , reworking some old sites and much more.

First off , I did away with all of my small traditional pots out back.
What dose that mean you ask , I am done with random small pots.
It means most of the back garden is sub-irrigated.
I have all of my double buckets from last year.
I also added many more this year , as well as a very
cheep mini setup.

i have already learned a lot this season
Along the theme i started last year
I only plant things i will use.
With the exception of flowers to attract bees.
Out back is almost all Pepper plants.
I have 2 tomato plants , a arugala plant , and
a onion i tossed in dirt to try and get seed.

This was origanaley was ment to be posted
way back April. Due to Pandemic and job loss
posting was postponed.
I do apologize to any that fallow me.

update 5-30-19

I know i know i am late to start this season.
I was on time in the garden if it makes you feel better.
New year new methods , old revisited , and no more "give away" veg.
So first off i have a new seed starting method based of lots of
trial and error and research.
I still love the fish tank gravel method to start old
and stubborn seeds as well as seeds i just am no sure of .
Don't worry it will get a page.

"give away veg"
I am not longer growing plants we won't use.
For example My wife loves sweet peppers and hates hot peppers.
I buy a lot of bell pepper at the store , I buy pepper sauce 1 or twice a year.
Winner is sweet peppers.
I gave away alot of my garden last year, be it peppers , or tomatoes.
I found when i needed a bell it was there every time.
My brocoli never took due to heat , got it out to late.
end of story there , not really the right place to grow it
corn did not do well in anyway. so many reasons why it failed.
Maybe again when i have more space.
Potatoes with the bag system.
I tried year one with a potato a bag.
I tried year two with many in each.
still had the same results.
Maybe when i have more space
Pumpkins , yes more pumpkins!!!
Nothing has sprouted so far.
thats it , peace yo!

update 06-06-18

welcome back everyone, good to have you.
It has been 21 days sense the last pictures
where taken , so here is the photo update.
I will explain the progress and what i have
learned this season.

as you might have noticed the greenhouse has went
through a make over. I moved lots of things around
some things just got to big to be on the top shelf.
some things where in shadows
yet other things where not worth my limited
greenhouse space.
i had to remove the center
shelves to make room fom groth/light
drastic mesures where needed
i had to plant some peppers outside
of the protection of the green house

right on the ground in the dirt.

up front you can see the
2 colprits face to face.
i had to move them because they
just would not stop hitting the top.
(golden cyanne / broccoli )

Here you can see my best sip Tomato
(Back center)
My standard control bucket to the right
and far right front we will get into later on

ok here on the left you can see my
 sealed bottem buckets.
So i have had mixed results with this
methiod as you can see.
the buckets have changed places and the
close one has had 2 plants pulled
and a new plant put in its place.
The other plants where still alive but not
slow growing and not worth the space.
before i forget again
the 2 front center SIP buckets
are green bell pepper / jalapenio

left to right tabasco , thai , cherry bomb
Cherry Bomb is a new pepper i bought
Never heard of it but i understand it
can pack a pretty good punch

cherry bomb / gypsy / cyanne from seed

Jalapeno from seed / mystery pepper from seed

Purple bell pepper / couple of mystery peppers

More mystory peppers

My best SIP results
I'd say this tomato it about 34-36 inchs
from soil level and super heathy.

So this was a experement of mine.
I have very little expectations but , to
my surprise this worked really well.
It was a random throw together.
a new oil collection pan from dollar tree
and a old wicket waste basket.
the idea was SIP + root aeration/air pruning
i will have to try this again with a less primitive system

Now to suspect #1

Name : miss Broccoli Waltham 29
Crime : trespass
Location : very top of greenhouse
Punishment: relocation

Now to suspect #2

Name : Countess Von golden Cyanne
Crime : trespass / plantligomy
Location : very top of greenhouse
Punishment: relocation

Was cough with many peppers from unknown father planr

AS you can see there has been lots of
progress these last three weeks

The outcast plants from the greenhouse.
these lovly ladys have been moved into
a shallow water resavor as a exparement
if this works out corectly it will validate
the information i got from the wicker
basket tomato. wish me luck :)

My SIP pepper buckets seem to be
doing ok so far. we will see what happens.
I have already noticed that the buckets
with center pipes are doing far better
then the rest. These are the buckets with
2x 2 inch net cups
over 1 3 inch

Before you ask every other treatment is the same.
same light , same water , same bucket size , same soil.
(as if anyone has ever asked anything , lol)

So my pumpkin buckets where intended to grow pumpkins in ,
but i need space from my pepper seedlings
come to find out my tomato loves its home.
my pepper is kind of being a jerk
in front you can see my slower of my 2 potato bags

My better potato bag its fully unrolled in early june.
i got months of growth
the other bag is about half way

on to my berries
What can i say i failed
i didn't get a signal berry
loads of dead heads , deep green
foliage . no fuit

Thats a retty flower in the making
guess where it comes from ?
The onion that you forgit about in the
pantery . just cut out the center bulb.
and in now time you have this wonderful
flower.

ohhh and it make you a nice crop of onion seeds
for next year.

i had to remove the center
shelves to make room fom groth/light
drastic mesures where needed
i had to plant some peppers outside
of the protection of the green house
right on the ground in the dirt.

Update 05-16 -18

Sorry it has been a while sence my last posting ,
so here are some better late then never pics
and update on my gardening adventures.
Enjoy....

on the left in black trunks :P KHI thai pepper
And her friend in matching bottems it a gypsy pepper
I bought these plant for 3 USD each

The plants in the soda cups are watermelons i bought.
turned out to be 4 plants in a pot so i transplanted
not bad for 2 USD

here we have my first atempt at sub irigatred planters
(4 blue buckets in the middle)
and also a test on a sealed resavor bucket system.
(the 2 white buckets to the left)
here we have My first attempt at broccoli
(far left )
Fallowed by a couple plants i bought
First is a Tabasco pepper
next is a golden Cyanne pepper

here we have a Jalapino plant i started from seed
(left to right)
A purple bell i bought
and a couple of mystery peppers i started from seed
Long story short adhisive dot lables fade
fast in a green house , and fall off in humidity.
notice 1 dot out of 5 left on the buckets.
The buckets by the way , i found at my local dollar tree
type 5 plastic and have worked like a dream.
I highly recomend them

On the left is a pepper i ended up pulling due to no growth :[
The pepper on the right is the Jalapeno i grew from seed that is doing great.

here is the rest of my garden layout
the 3 beds on the right , onions , carrots , and corn
the 2 center beds are half squash / wax pepper
and little pukie` mon pumpkins
far back center is broccoli

here we have some more of my SIP buckets
I have played around with these square buckets a
bit and found that 2x 2 inch net cups works better
then a single 3 inch.
left  is Jalapeno right Serrano top best of the mystery

the remaining 2 buckets are cyannee pepper
And this crazy contraption is my
 over wintered strawberries
